Dr. Mize has more than 15 years experience in Biotechnology with
extensive experience in novel genomics and proteomics applications,
innovative technology implementation, and expertise in Pharmacogenomics
and Pharmacoproteomics. Her experience also includes drug and peptide
modeling (QSAR for toxicity), microarray Genechip analysis, and Mass
Spectroscopy. As a consultant, Dr. Mize has reviewed and appraised
technologies for several startup Biotechnology companies, composed
business plans and prepared slideware. As Director of Protein
Bioinformatics at Hyseq Pharmaceuticals, a Genomics company, she
created and supervised three groups: Computational Biology,
Intellectual Property Informatics, and Data Integration. Previously,
Dr. Mize was research scientist at Ciphergen Biosystems, a Proteomics
company, and staff scientist at Alza Corp. She received her B.S. from
the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. from the
University of California, San Francisco. Subsequently, she completed
postdoctoral studies in the Cell Biology Programme at the European
Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, GenBank), Heidelberg, Germany, and
at Genentech in the Department of Molecular Biology. In the course of
her work at Ciphergen and Hyseq Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Mize holds more
than 25 U.S. and European patent applications, with 4 issued patents to
date. Dr. Mize works with DNA Bridges, Inc. www.dnabridges.com a firm
known internationally for expert consulting and professional services
in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries, and she
works with Pacific BioDevelopment www.pacbiodev.com performing
PharmacoGenomics and PharmacoProteomics for clinical trials. In
addition, she serves on the Strategic Planning Committee for the life
sciences division of the Women's Technology Cluster www.wtc-sf.org an incubator for startup information technology and biotechnology businesses.
